Okay so anyway I have a headcanon that Kagami celebrates Thanksgiving
At first, when he moved to LA, he had no idea what it was until he started seeing it talked about in November on TV and saw signs and decorations for it on the streets and in stores. Completely out of the loop, he asked Himuro about it, who explained everything.
He learned that it was a big deal in America and it's a time when you get a break from school and get to cook big meals and spend time with those you love as you reflect on what you're thankful for.
Tbh Himuro already sold him when he mentioned no school, and a lot of food like this boy was READY.
But the problem was that his he and his dad didn't celebrate Thanksgiving, and they haven't lived in the country long enough to make any friends that would invite them to their Thanksgiving get-togethers. So, Himuro is lke "well, this can't stand. let's make our own celebration!"
Introduce problem number 2. Neither Himuro nor Kagami knows what goes into planning a Thanksgiving party. So they ask the only person that makes sense to ask. Alex.
Alex is confused when they show up for their usual mentoring on the b-ball court, and the first thing they ask about is how to plan a Thanksgiving party. But after hearing that Kagami has never celebrated Thanksgiving, she gets in on their plan and decided to help them.
With permission from Kagami and Himuro's parents, the three of them make a list of everything they'd need for the party, from decorations to food. Then they go shopping together to get all the stuff.
The day before Thanksgiving Day, they get together to start brining the turkey. It's the first time Kagami has ever seen a turkey and his first time preparing one, so he pays very close attention to what Alex does.
The day of Thanksgiving, they come together again early in the morning to take the turkey out of the brine and also start cooking all the other dishes. Kagami and Himuro looked up typical Thanksgiving dishes online and picked the ones they wanted to try the most.
Kagami is very adamant about wanting to do all the prep himself because this is his first Thanksgiving, so he banishes his dad upstairs while he, Himuro, and Alex do all the hard-carrying.
While certain dishes were in the oven, Kagami and Himuro were in charge of decorating. They decided to have the celebration in Kagami's house, so they set the table, lit scented candles (with Alex's supervision), and put up autumn-themed streamers on the walls.
By the time all the decorations are put up and all the dishes have been cooked, it's early evening, and Kagami and Himuro are ready to MUNCH.
Kagami's dad, of course, shows up for the festivities, and Himuro's parents are also invited and come, too. And they all sit around the dining table in Kagami's house and have the greatest feast that Kagami has ever had. There's a lot of smiles and laughs, and, for a split second, Kagami finally understands why people celebrate this every year.
Since the first party was such a hit, they celebrate Thanksgiving every year that Kagami is in America. But when he goes back to Japan, he's alone, and Japan doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, so he doesn't have a big party like he did in previous years. As a result, Thanksgiving ends up being depressing as hell, and Kagami spends it eating pizza and watching movies in the darkness of his living room.
But then, he gets to high school and meets Kuroko, the rest of the Seirin basketball team, and then the Generation of Miracles all in one year. On top of that, Himuro comes back, and Alex pays a visit. And then Kagami thinks—hopes—for a second, that maybe they could have a Thanksgiving party like old times. But with all the drama during the Winter Cup and Himuro threatening to end their brotherhood over a basketball match, that hope quickly dies out, and he spends another Thanksgiving alone.
After the Winter Cup ends, everything settles down, and things are better, Kagami decides after Kuroko's birthday party that this year would be the year. It has to be.
So, in November of his second year of high school, just after the month started, he sent out invitations to the entire Seirin basketball team, the GoM + Momoi, and Himuro, detailing of a Thanksgiving party at Kagami's place. Plus-ones are allowed, and all Kagami asks that they bring is themselves and some good vibes.
He makes a list just like he used to, and he shops with Himuro and Kuroko to get all the things they need. They then go back to Kagami's to prepare. KagaHimu is on cooking while Kuroko is on decoration.
When they're done with all the preparation and Kagami takes a step back to admire their work, he's so proud and made him really feel he made the right decision.
Eventually, guests start showing up one by one, and everyone is impressed by the spread. Once everyone arrives, then the party begins.
The food is incredible, and since it's a lot of people's first time trying Thanksgiving dishes, they have a newfound appreciation for this type of American cuisine.
Then, after eating, they clear up a little and then play some games and talk. Even though the guests present are pretty much the same as Kuroko's birthday party, this time, it feels different. As Kagami sits there and watches everyone chat and laugh with each other, he's reminded of the very first Thanksgiving party he threw as an elementary student, and he gets a little emotional. Out of all the things to be thankful for, the friends he's made after coming to Japan are what he's thankful for the most.
When it gets too late and everyone starts going home, Himuro looks at Kagami with a knowing smirk and says, "same time next year, bro?" Kagami looks back at him and breaks out into the biggest grin before replying,"You know it, bro."
Anyway, I just wanted to do something cute for Thanksgiving. But I'm gonna head out now because I'm at my own Thanksgiving party, and we just got called to eat. Have a lovely Thanksgiving, guys! 🍁🦃💜

Remembering the poor and lonely at Thanksgiving
When I was little, I would always beg my mother to cook us a turkey at Thanksgiving. She’d always say, “Oh, honey, that would be a waste since it’s just the two of us”. No amount of begging, no mention of what she could do with leftovers swayed her. It was a chicken and dressing casserole for us, each and every Thanksgiving Day. To be honest, there probably wasn’t enough money in our budget for…

The Morning After
Young!Coriolanus Snow x Fem!Plinth!Reader
Summary - After the events of On Top, Tigris has a talk with Coriolanus.
Warnings - mentions of sex, fluff, not beta read
Author's Note - This is going to be very short and sweet because Thanksgiving break is ending and I have school tomorrow (I don’t want to go back. Someone please save me.)
Tumblr media
The sun came up and shined over all of Panem. Its golden rays snuck through Coriolanus’s window, accentuating the curves of your body. Last night was one of the best nights he’s had in a while. He held you close, not wanting to let you go. He could stay like this forever. His skin could mend itself into his sheets and he wouldn’t care. As long as he had you by his side.
You stirred awake a little while later. Even though the sun was up, Coriolanus’s room was still cold. You pulled the sheets closer to your body and yawned.
“Good morning,” Coriolanus whispered as he kissed the naked skin of your shoulder.
You let out another yawn in response. “Good morning. What time is it?”
Coriolanus looked at the pocketwatch on his end table. “It’s ten in the morning.”
Your body shot up. You were supposed to be home two hours ago. Your mother had set up a meeting for you at one of the boutiques in the Capital. You’d expressed interest in working for your own money which made both of your parents proud. Little did they know that the money wasn’t just for you, but for your future with Coriolanus.
“I have to go,” you said as you threw your clothes back on. Your tardiness wouldn’t be appreciated, but nobody would care. No matter how much you don’t like it, rules don’t apply to people like you. People who could afford to buy ten boutiques and still have money left over.
You quickly kissed Coriolanus on the cheek before darting out of the Snow residence.
Coriolanus sighed as he craved the warmth of your body again. He wanted to know why you left his home so fast, but you would tell him. You always tell him everything.
Coriolanus sat up and stretched his sore muscles and joints. He followed your lead and put his clothes back on. As much as he loved you, he didn’t want people to know what the two of you shared last night. Fresh scratch marks lined his back, serving as a reminder of what had conspired only a few hours ago. He hissed as he ran a hand down his back. He was lucky that you had barely missed his stitches. He loved you, but you could be reckless sometimes.
He slowly opened his door, silently praying that Tigris and Grandma’am were still asleep. He checked around the corner and he couldn’t see anything or anyone. The coast was clear, or so he thought.
Coriolanus walked into the kitchen with unmatchable swagger and a smug smile on his lips. But when he saw Tigris sitting at the kitchen table with two steaming cups of coffee, he knew he was in trouble.
“Good morning, Coryo. Have a seat.” Tigris’s tone was calm as always. That eased his mind a little, but he hoped that she wouldn’t talk about what happened last night.
“Where did you get the coffee?” He slid a mug closer to himself and observed the dark liquid in it. He hadn’t had coffee in a long time. He took a sip of it and let the bitterness settle onto his tongue. He could taste a faint trace of sugar. It was probably the last of the sugar they had in the cupboard, but as the sweetness hit his tongue, all he could think about was you.
“It was in the basket,” Tigris motioned to the basket on the countertop.
He remembered that Grandma’am had told him about the basket in passing. He hadn't registered that you were the one who brought the basket for them.
“Now, Coryo. We need to talk.” Tigris took one of Coriolanus’s hands into hers. Just like Coryo, Tigris has slim and bony hands. Their fingers interlaced and Tigris looked into his eyes. “The walls aren’t that thick. I know what happened last night.”
Coriolanus closed his eyes in embarrassment. He couldn’t look his cousin in the eyes. Now it was evident that the Universe didn’t answer his prayers.
“Hey, it’s okay. There’s no need for you to be embarrassed. I just want to make sure you’re being safe.”
“Yes, we are,” Coriolanus said as he continued to avoid eye contact. Last night was the first time he didn't pull out. The two of you were clean and there was a low chance that you would get pregnant.
“Good,” Tigris let go of his hand and continued, “So, did you do everything I told you?”
Tigris had always been there for Coriolanus. She was his number-one supporter and confidant. No matter what, Coriolanus would trust Tigris with anything, but sometimes Tigris would do and say things that made Coriolanus want to scream.
“Tigris!” Coriolanus hid his head in his hands.
Tigris smirked at her younger cousin's antics. She was proud of him for finding someone to love him as he was. Coriolanus had so much to offer to the world, but not enough money for the world to take him seriously.
The rest of the morning was spent with the two of them laughing and smiling as their conversation shifted away from sex. Even Though the universe didn't answer Coriolanus' petty prayers, he is glad for one thing though. He’s grateful that the universe brought him the most powerful, beautiful, strong, and caring women in all of Panem.

having a baby w mike and it being the baby’s first halloween :’) you mike and abby take lil dude to baby’s r us and spend HOURS trying to find smth perfect, mike and abby bicker over costumes bc “he’s my kid??” vs “i’m a kid and i know what kids like, and he’s MY nephew”, taking him trick or treating w abby and her staring down anyone w a mask or smth scary like “>:( don’t scare him he’s little”, mike being a Dad and wanting to take pics/vids of everything
oh my god clementine this is so sweet i actually had to silently squeal for a second !!
it’s like there’s a general buzz in the house for all of october. each of you thoroughly excited for the first real holiday in baby schmidt’s life, apart from the fourth where he’d worn an american flag swimsuit at your parents cookout. he seems to be excited too, constantly flashing his newly grown teeth even when no one’s looking.
the outside of the house is brandished in cheesy decorations, little cobwebs and faux tombstones, abby’s hard work as she likes to remind you and mike every so often. it seems like she has just as big of a role in baby schmidt’s life as his parents, which eventually leads to the infamous babies r us argument.
standing in the infant section again, it’s at least the fourth time the four of you have found yourselves here, the three times before ending in frustrated walks to the toy section (where mike put entirely too many toys in the buggy), a lunch break, and a feeding break for little schmidt.
now, you’re determined to find a costume this time. the section isn’t that big so it really shouldn’t be as difficult as it is. but the two equally stubborn schmidt’s are the ones making it difficult, dual hardened eyes staring at each other.
“he should go as mickey mouse, it’s cuter.”
“and i’m telling you again, abby, that he’s going as a little astronaut.”
they each hold their respective costumes in tight fists, and it’s really a funny sight to see; mike bent down to eye level with his little sister, face just a tiny bit red from the argument that really shouldn’t be as heated as it is.
“every other kid is going to be an astronaut.”
“and how do you know that?”
“because dina’s little cousins are all astronauts. i’m a kid. i know what kids like, mike.” she spits his name with such a matter-of-fact attitude, that you start to see her point.
but little schmidt is starting to get fussy in your harness and your back is really starting to hurt so you cut the argument short just when mike states, “yeah but hes my kid” and abby is starting to counter that he’s her nephew.
you punctually grab the first costume that you see, the lion from wizards of oz, and throw it in the basket.
“neither of you carried him and went through 17 hours of labor so i get to choose.” and they can’t argue with that logic.
but to make the two grumpy ones feel better about losing, you all stop for ice cream on the way home.
and weeks later, when halloween finally rolls around (because of course abby and mike were so excited for little schmidt’s first halloween that you’d gone costume shopping extremely early), they’re both on guard.
abby’s trick or treating with a friend, you and mike left as guardians for the night, and as soon as dina rings the doorbell abby is giving her a lecture.
“and he’s really little still so you can’t scare him, okay?”
you and mike stand a few feet away in the hallway, coordinating outfits with baby schmidt who’s still down for the remainder of his nap.
when it comes to trick or treating itself, mike has his camera out the entire time. he refuses to let you all leave the house without pictures. every few houses he has to take a picture of you and abby and dina walking back from the porch, or baby schmidt with his fist in his mouth. by the end of the night, he’s gone through two rolls of film, and there’s new family photos framed around the house by the time thanksgiving rolls around.
